Join CCDB Today!

The Colorado Criminal Defense Bar (CCDB) is the only independent statewide bar association dedicated to supporting criminal defense practitioners in Colorado.

CCDB members include attorneys in private practice, public defenders, investigators, paralegals, and social workers, and many CCDB members practice as contractors with the Office of Alternate Defense Counsel (ADC) and Office of Respondent Parents' Counsel (ORPC).

Just as CCDB's members zealously serve their clients and protect their constitutional rights, CCDB serves its members by providing important programs, services, and activities.

Member Benefits

Member benefits are found largely in the support of a community of fellow CCDB members who are all dedicated to criminal defense throughout Colorado, and include:

  • Continuing legal education seminars (CLEs) and conferences that provide quality training and credits toward Colorado's Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) requirements. Members receive discounted registration fees and several free members-only seminars each year.

  • Advocacy for criminal justice reform through lobbying at the Colorado General Assembly and grassroots response to ballot initiatives.

  • Advocacy about judicial appointments to Colorado's district court and county court benches through recommendation letters about judicial nominees sent to the governor and mayor of Denver.

  • Active listserv discussion groups for sharing knowledge and celebrating victories with other members.

  • Searchable member database.

  • Searchable "Find a Lawyer" database open to the general public and those in need of criminal defense.

  • Strike Force that provides pro bono advice and counsel to immigration lawyers and criminal defense counsel facing the threat of criminal charges or investigations for zealously representing noncitizen clients.

  • Annual awards recognizing outstanding contributions to criminal defense and an annual awards reception to celebrate the awardees.

  • An informal mentorship program to assist new practitioners and those new to criminal defense in Colorado.

  • Regional chapters throughout Colorado that provide opportunities for networking, idea-sharing, and coordinated response to local issues.

  • Social events for networking and face-time with colleagues and peers throughout the year.

  • Leadership and volunteer opportunities with the CCDB Board and various committees working on behalf of CCDB members, including Professional Development/CLE, Policy, Judicial, Membership, and Amicus.
